Bolgheri is always associated in the collective memory Giosue Carducci famous poet, who moved here in 1839 when she was only four years.
Bolgheri has a very long history, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages.
Of particular interest is the castle of Bolgheri, located at the end of the long avenue of cypresses, a short distance from the church of St. Antonio. The castle outside is covered with bricks. The building rises above a socket "shoe": the walls appear to be scanned and mullioned windows. The crowning is blackbirds. On the right side, there is a high tower with an arch at the center acute that guarantees access to the country; above it is placed a polychrome earthenware and circular in shape, which brings along the edge a garland of leaves and fruits and in the inner part of the arme accounts Castagneto (badge della Gherardesca). |
